形態特徵

Culms 10-20 m tall, 4-12 cm in diam., slightly zigzag; nodes prominent, with a ring of dense brown hairs at nodes when young; internodes 15-50 cm long; walls 1-2 cm thick; branches numerous at nodes.
Sheath of culm deciduous, coriaceous, densely pubescent especially on lower portion, brown-fimbriate along margins when young; auricles of sheath small or inconspicuous; ligule of sheath narrow, 1-5 mm high, aristate; blade of sheath narrowly triangular, brown-pubescent on both surfaces at base. Leaves 9-13, oblong or broadly linear-lanceolate, 10-33 cm long, 2.5-4.5 cm broad, glabrous above, densely pubescent beneath; veins 6-10, veinlets 9, parallel, densely spinulose-scabrous along margins; petiole short, 2-4 mm long; auricles of leaf small, with brown bristles at apex; ligule of leaf rounded, aristate; sheath of leaf 4.5-15 cm long, glabrous.
Spikelets in clusters of 1-4 at nodes of leafless branches, 3-3.7 cm long, 5 mm in diam., 4-12-flowered; glumes 2, ovate, 6-10 mm long, 5-7 mm wide, densely hairy; lemma ovate, acuminate, 14 mm long, 10 mm wide, veins 25, margins hairy; palea oblong-lanceolate, acute, 10 mm long, 6 mm wide, densely hairy, veins 4 between keel, 2-3 between each keel and edge, densely hairy on keels, along margins; gynoecium 9 mm long; ovary ovate, 2 mm long, 1 mm in diam., with 2 vascular strands seen in cross section; style 1.8 mm long, with 2 feathery stigmas; stamens 6, 14 mm long, anthers 6 mm long, with short awn; lodicules 3, densely hairy along upper margins.
